Better to eat half a sandwich than a whole one. Better to be interrupted by the man who wants to get straight back home because there's a big game on TV tonight or by the woman who stops outside a shop window and interrupts what we were saying about the cathedral tower, far better that than to have the whole Geneva to yourself with all the time and quiet in the world to visit it.

There is another quote in the book, somewhere, that has to do with freedom that resonates with me. It is something like - Freedom is not a lack of committments, freedom is choosing what's right for you to commit to, and committing to it. - I can tell you that this is true from my own experience. The people who are running through life trying not to commit to anything because they're afraid of losing their freedom will for the most part remain unfulfilled. The trick is to choose your committments freely, and not let anyone else talk you in to something that's not right for you.
