ah- theres a lot more to it than that!
Theres a sense of permission and an insta connection because you're all there for a reason. It starts before you even reach the playa in the gas stations on the way. You see that car piled high with bikes and colorful sparkly things and you go up to them and say hi. There is a sense of camaraderie- we're in this together. You expect to interact with people in a different way than you do when you go home.

You know that everyone there is far more likely to be 'your kind of people' than in your everyday life. But the thing is thats not necessarily true! The business man in a suit could well be that crazy freak on stilts at burningman. Where you wouldn't look at him twice in his everyday wear, out on the playa everyone is more attractive because they are all making an effort to be creative.

Then there is the gift giving. What a great reason to connect with someone! If you did that in an city apart from San Francisco people would think you were bonkers. On the playa you have the reason *and* the means to connect! (but please don't give me a tiny plastic frog or a spider ring you cheap ass)

There there are the weird activities. Surreal meetings and strange games. Someone always comes up with some kind of scavenger hunt, or game with cards... those are always a good reason to connect.
